Masters Dual Race Rules
On Sunday April 13th we will wrap up the season with dual team races. The teams are formed by seeding participating masters along with many of our junior scholarship athletes to create teams which are as even as we can make them in each bracket. In the past, this has led to many exciting head-to-head matchups - fun to compete in and fun to watch!!
Please note that it is extremely important that you get your entries in on time so that we can make up teams on Saturday. It is as important to let Eddie know if you decide not to race in order to keep teams fair.
The format is as follows:
- Teams will be selected from the entries received by Saturday afternoon April 12th.
- There will be 6 teams (teams "A"-"F"), each consisting of about 12 racers (depending on the number of competitors that have entered).
- Each team will have their racers ranked into one of 12 slots ("1" through "12") with the most skilled athlete at slot "1 "down to the least skilled at slot "12".
- Each racer will be identified by his or her team name(letter) and numbered slot. You must know yours to figure where you race each round. This information will be posted at the race.
- If you miss your start you will DQ for that run.
- If you interfere with your opponent, you DQ.
- If both racers fall, 1st to fall loses.
- This will be a round robin event. Each of the 6 teams will race each other team once (total of 5 runs for each racer, as you will race each of the 5 other teams once).
- When team A races team B, the "1" racer from A will race the "1" racer from team B. The "2" racer from A will race the "2" racer from team B and so on.
- Since each team is seeded, each race will pair like-ability racers.
- Each team will receive one point for each individual race won. The team with the most total points at the end of the 5 rounds is the winner.
- Both courses will be set to be as even as possible. The entire team will race on the same course(either red or blue) for each round. Teams will be alternated each round on different courses so that by the end of the day you will have raced 3 runs on one course and 2 runs on the other. This should even out any difference between courses.
- If a racer is unable to finish their 5 runs once they have started they will be considered a DSQ for the remaining runs.
- If a racer on a team does not show up for the day (DNS), then that team will receive a total of 2 points for the missing racer and the other racers who occupy that slot on the other 5 teams, will race only 4 times and get whatever points they win.
- We will run the races consecutively, so go back to the start as soon as you finish your run.
- MOST IMPORTANT , HAVE FUN!!, but also REMEMBER the name of your team and know what letter slot you run in. In this way you can figure out where and when your starts will be.
