Operation Improvements Proposals

In response to discussions at the spring membership meeting held during the final season race weekend at Mammoth in April 2006, Sandy Hogan has volunteered to lead a committee to explore ideas for ways to increase the visibility of Far West Masters, encourage growth in our membership, and improve the way we organize and operate masters races in the Far West division. Many of these ideas have been around in various forms for a number of years and it was felt by a number of our members that it was important to pursue some of these more actively to foster the growth of masters ski racing.

The Improvements Committee (anyone got a zippier name for this important group?!) is being led by Sandy Hogan, who has taken on the task of collecting comments and ideas from the committee and all interested members (or prospective members!), researching proposals to identify issues and opportunities that each offers, and organizing the resulting material to focus further discussion and action. The other committee members are Elizabeth Kennedy & Linda Crowell, with Deb Lewis & Marietta Frinnell also assisting.

Below are the set of proposal ideas that Sandy has organized in preparation for discussions at the July 8 summer board/membership meeting. Each proposal is listed with a link to the PDF document (best for printing), along with an html version for browsing on the web, and includes both a description of the idea that is being considered and various pros/cons/issues related to its possible implementation. Please take a look and bring your comments and suggestions to the summer meeting, if you are able to attend, or provide feedback to Sandy and other members of the FWM board.
